Questioning the STEM Equation for Student Success
The IINSPIRE LSAMP Annual Conference, hosted by University of Northern Iowa, will be held on February 7-8, 2020 at University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA.
CALL for PROPOSALS – Submit a proposal!
The IINSPIRE LSAMP alliance is now accepting proposals for the 2019-20 annual conference at the University of Northern Iowa. Drawing on the “M” in STEM, this year’s conference theme is “Questioning the STEM Equation for Student Success.” The conference aims to highlight integrated approaches connecting students to STEM in their classrooms, their community, their homes, and the work place as well as the application of mathematics in everyday life.
Session proposals should align with the conference theme and address one of the following five strands:
- Equations that Work: Best practices (Approaches) for creating equitable learning environments
- Balancing the Equation: Addressing campus (institutional) inequities to STEM success
- Measuring Up: Building LSAMP programs that meet NSF Guidelines
- At the Root of It: Mathematical applications in work and play
- Integration: Our local community as a STEM classroom
Proposals are due on Wednesday, December 11th, 2019.

STUDENT ORAL & POSTER PRESENTATIONS – Submit an Abstract!
IINSPIRE LSAMP research interns and members are invited to give an oral presentation and/or present a research or experiential poster. The poster session is also open to other students as well. Oral and poster submissions will be peer-reviewed and accepted for presentation based on merit and availability of space. Students who wish to present must submit an abstract detailing the content of their presentation. Follow the link below for more information and to submit an abstract.
Deadline to submit a poster abstract is on Tuesday, January 21st, 2020.
We are still accepting late submission, but we can not gurantee a hotel room.
AWARD NOMINATIONS – Submit a Nomination!
IINSPIRE LSAMP is seeking nominations for awards in three categories, outstanding service, outstanding alumni, and excellence in mentoring. One faculty or staff member and one student will be recognized for their contributions in mentoring. The deadline to nominate faculty, staff, and/or students is Tuesday, Januray 21st. EXHIBITORS & RECRUITERS
Research programs, companies, graduate schools, and admission departments are invited to share information about their college/department, organization, research experiences, internships or employment opportunities of interest to IINSPIRE LSAMP undergraduate students. If you are interested in setting up a table/exhibit for your program, please follow the link below to secure a table at the fair.

To ensure its continued success we are inviting corporate, industry, and academic partners and collaborators to sponsor this year’s event. Sponsors will receive recognition at our conference website, in the conference program book, and on conference signage. In addition, we welcome sponsors to participate in this year Student Opportunities Fair to promote their company or organization and highlight internship, co-op, and research opportunities available for undergraduate students pursuing a career in STEM.
