Jordan Zonner is a graduate of Doane College with a degree in Biology. She was awarded a 2015 SACNAS Student Presentation Award for her research in computer/systems engineering. Through the networking opportunities available through IINSPIRE LSAMP, she was hired in a post-baccalaureate research assistant position at the Food and Drug Administration in Silver Springs, MD in the areas of virology and immunology. The majority of her work has been sample preparation of Alternaria alternata mold samples for a HPLC-mass spectrometer. This mold species is particularly found in urban areas and sensitivity to the mold directly leads to the development of severe asthma. The mass spectrometer will help her team identify target allergen proteins to use for skin prick tests.
